Chiang Kai Shek Residence trip

To top off this relaxing and enjoyable excursion, we were delighted to visit with some students who came after their last tests at school and were having a field trip to celebrate! They LOVE to practice their English skills on Americans! It was really fun to have them stop and talk to us. Once one stopped to talk, we were surrounded by these students. REally nice kids!
Just a very small part of the beautiful gardens which encompass the residence and buildings. In 2002 they made this residence and grounds a historic site and in 2005 they added another 2.5 hectares and turned it into a park with a 400-meter jogging trail and eco pond. It is open, free of charge, to the public, 24 hours a day!

Actors, getting ready for a performance, which I wish we could have seen. Notice the purple fingernails! She must have played the role of a wicked witch or something!

Chian Kia Shek's "Chapel of Victory". He and Madame Shek were devout Christians! President Nixon and Dwight D. Eisenhower attended church with him here.

This hedge is of a girl carrying a torch! Pretty good, huh?

This is supposed to be a sculpture of Chian Kia Shek. They do amazing hedge sculpture here!

Last week we rode the MRT to see Chiang Kai Shek's Residence. This is the entrance. The human size mice are depicting the year of the mouse and they are carrying royalty.
